Happy Halloween

The Orange class has been enjoying all the Halloween activities this week. The children have had a great time painting their pumpkins and making their Jack o’lanterns and ghosts and bats. During circle time I placed our humongous class pumpkin on the rug and wondered out loud if the children could pick it up. All the children tried to pick it up. It is interesting to see how each child would try to pick the pumpkin… some tried to pick it from the stem, and some grabbed it from the middle; one child tried to scoop it up but the best we could do was to roll it on the rug. We finally carved our class pumpkin. The children helped to scoop out the pumpkin seeds with a huge plastic spoon, a metal spoon, and their hands. Miss Blum washed, dried, salted and roasted the pumpkin seeds and we enjoyed them as a snack. The children also made and ate spiders. Its a couple of Ritz crackers with cream cheese with pretzel sticks for legs and raisins for eyes.

Our circle time visitors are Halloween Bear, Clown Bear, Winnie the Bee Bear, Ghost and ofcourse Spider. Its been a fun and exciting week.

Every Tuesday, in Music class with Mrs. Wada we sing, dance and use musical instruments like egg shakers and rhythm sticks. This week we danced with Jack O’ lantern sponges. The music was Edvard Grieg’s “In the Hall of The Mountain King”. We have also been listening to Vivaldi’s “Autumn”

Here’s a link to Grieg’s “In the Hall of the mountain king”

The children enjoyed making “diyas” for Diwali.

We also had Squirrel family visit us earlier this October. The song “Gray squirrel, gray squirrel shake your bushy tail…” was very popular in our class.

Have a Happy Halloween!
