Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere!

We celebrated Halloween week with pumpkins everywhere! We sang pumpkin songs in music class and painted bubble wrap pumpkins at the easel. We later made those pumpkins into Jack-O-Lanterns.

We decorated our own individual pumpkins with pom poms, plastic netting and eyes!

We mixed red and yellow play dough to make the color orange for our pumpkin play dough mats and halloween tools.

We also found the letters in our first names and put them on our classroom pumpkin. Many of the children wanted to find the letters in their last names also. Very impressive! We touched upon vowels and consonants in names. The vowels were definitely more difficult to find because of their popularity!

Lastly, we made banana and strawberry smoothies. We drank them in a special halloween cup with a straw. They were SO delicious!

We read the story Humbug Witch by Lorna Balian and used some real props. Ask your children about this witch and what her secret was? Also ask them about her black cat named Fred! Mrs. Arsenault’s class joined us for this story. All of the children really loved it!

Please have your child bring in a warm coat, hat and mittens every day. It gets very cold on the playground!

Thank you!
