Animal Tracks and Music Fun
Happy New Year!! We are really looking forward to spending time with your children in the year ahead!
The children all seem so excited to be back together at school. The friendships that have formed amongst them are so sweet and genuine. Make-believe play is very prevalent in our classroom most days. This specific type of play is so important for your child’s emotional growth.
We read Who Was Here? by Mia Posada. It is a book about wild animal tracks. The children loved guessing each animal that may have made each track. Finding tracks this week will be so much fun in the recent snow that has just came down. Thank you Mother Nature! It is very interesting to see the different animals that do make it onto our school playground!
We also read the story The Mitten by Jan Brett. After we read this story, we acted it out using the animals and this mitten. The children loved this story so much and were easily able to retell each animal that moved next into the mitten. We acted this out multiple times!
Each week during music class, we do a variety of enjoyable activities. This past week, the children got to make their stuffed animal move through music using the animal’s body parts. This was so much fun for them!
We were also introduced to the Glockenspiel instrument. We got to experiment making music with a variety of them.
This coming week at school, we will have snow filled days. Please continue to bring in all of your child’s snow gear! It will be so much fun watching all of the children play in this fresh snow. I think a snowman is in the upcoming forecast!
Happy Winter…
