MWS Celebrates National Poetry Month
April is National Poetry Month, and MWS is celebrating with our own Poetry Week. Mrs. Levine did some research and chose five poems for the teachers to read to their classes. Some of the poems were read so that the teacher would say a line and the children would repeat it. Others had picture prompts which allowed the children to say the lines of the poem that went with the pictures. Preschool children love the rhyming sounds and patterns of poems, and the repetition reinforces their learning.
The poems that were read this week are:
I’m a Yellow-Bill Duck by Jack Prelutsky
Wild Beasts by Evaleen Stein
The Happy Sheep by Wilfred Thorley
Who is Tapping at my Window? by A.G. Deming
The Pancake by Christina Rossetti
