Hello Summer 2025
This has been a great year for the Green class! Sadly, the end of the year has arrived and it is time to say goodbye for now. It was a short week, just two days. We packed in the fun in order to end the year right!
We read a few books about summer mornings, summer vacation, and the noises of summer.
For our art projects, the children made ice cream cone art. They glued a triangle shape to construction paper. Drew lines on the triangle with a brown marker to make it look like a cone. Then, used circle shapes and paint to make circle for the ice cream. The children also added glitter as “sprinkles” and using a q-tip and black paint to make “chocolate chips.” The second project, the children made “play dough sculpture.” When our home made play dough is on its last leg. We typically use it to make sculptures like this that the children can take home. The children used gems, pipe cleaners, straws, and popsicle sticks to decorate the play dough. They also used their fine motor skills to thread pony beads onto the pipe cleaners.
Here are some pictures from the other things the children did in the classroom and outside this week.
We had a dance party to celebrate the end of the year! We turned off the lights and put on a color changing disco light. Each child had the opportunity to give a song request. We had a a special snack of ice cream sundaes to also celebrate!
I also have an update on the flower the class planted together back in April. It has finally bloomed! Unfortunately, it did not bloom until 3 days after the say day of school. The children had predicted what color they thought the flower would be. There are 3 or 4 buds. One has fully bloomed and one is just beginning to bloom. The fully bloomed flower is red and yellow/orange. The flower just beginning to bloom looks like it is going to be yellow. I added a picture of the children’s predictions.
